Daniel Patrick Finnegan
Died on December 15, 2020
Daniel Patrick Finnegan, 35, of Brooklyn and Briarcliff Manor, NY, died on December 15, 2020. He was the loving son of Pamela Dombrowski Finnegan and J. Patrick Finnegan, who predeceased his son in 1989.
Dan was born in NY City and grew up in Briarcliff Manor, NY where his many lifelong friendships began. He was passionate about hockey and played in local leagues during his youth. As captain at his alma mater Iona Prep, Dan led his team to a Catholic High School Hockey League championship. On weekends, Dan was a popular caddy at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, where he earned spending money and accumulated great stories to share.
A proud Providence College Friar, he graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Finance. Blessed with a gregarious nature, he added many new and dear friends who relished being around his wit and charm. Everything he aspired to do, he did with an analytical mind, dedication to detail and a disciplined approach. These were the qualities that led to success in his career at ClearBridge Advisors. Dan continued to play hockey in several men’s leagues and was an accomplished marathoner and triathlete. He loved the challenge and camaraderie of competition.
Dan was a devoted son and caring companion to his mom, Pam, who raised him in a home of love and instilled in him the gifts that he shared with all of us. Dan was blessed to grow up with the love of a large extended family who loved him. Our lives were uplifted and enriched because we knew him.
The Irish poet William Butler Yeats wrote, “Think where men’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.” You were our glory, Dan. Rest in Peace until we meet again.
Dan is survived by his mother, Pamela Finnegan, his fiancée Mallory Thomson of Brooklyn and Springfield, MO, his aunts and uncles, Joan Finnegan Brooks (Peter), William Donohue (Gail), Donna Griffin and many beloved friends and family.
