Helen M. (Gordon) Gantz
August 6, 1947 - April 9, 2020
It is with a heavy heart we share that Helen M. Gantz of Ossining, NY passed away on April 9, 2020 from stroke complications.
Born August 6, 1947 to the late Rose and Abraham Gordon.
Helen was happily married to Allen W. Gantz (who passed on April 1, 2018) for more than 51 years.
Helen is also predeceased by her bother’s Harold Spencer Gordon and Morty Gordon.
Helen is survived by her daughters Amy Gantz-Cheatham and husband Lenny of MD and Natalie (Gantz) Zembrzuski her husband Ken and their children Zachary and Hailey of CT; and her brother Harvey Gordon and wife Marjorie of NM.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. All who knew Helen knew that family was most important to her. She loved to host small and big gatherings (especially in your home). A normal dinner for four meant you could add another six to the table, there was always enough food and plenty of leftovers. Helen was full of advice and “Jewish” mother guilt. While usually correct, her kids never let her know it!
Helen adored her grandchildren – Zachary and Hailey – and was proud of the young adults they have become. Recently she welcomed 2 more grandchildren, Camryn and Jared into the family, like they have been her grandchildren since birth. She could not have asked for two more loving and caring son-in-law’s (Ken and Lenny) to watch over and care for her daughters.
Helen was always smiling and busy helping others. She was a volunteer at Phelps Memorial Hospital, the 52 Association, and Physicians Against World Hunger.
For more than 40 years Helen was an Officer manager “Boss Lady” for Dr’s Michael Altamura and David Breslin.
She not only enjoyed the beach, shopping, going to the casino but most of all she enjoyed being with family and friends and watching her grandchildren play sports and do the things they love.
Helen will be sorely missed.
