Mary “Mickey” MacDonald
April 28, 1919 - December 17, 2017
Mary “Mickey” MacDonald formerly of Ellis Place in the village of Ossining, NY passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours on Sunday 17 December 2017, in Plymouth Meeting, PA, aged 98.
Mary is survived by her sister Kathleen (née MacDonald) Kolb previously from Ossining and presently of Norristown, PA and predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Katy MacDonald, her older brother Archibald, older sister Eileen, younger sister Loretta, and younger brother Bryan (“Bunny”).
Mary was born on Montgomery Avenue in Ossining in 1919, the second daughter of Archibald and Katy, and lived her entire life on Ellis Place in the village. She was a devoted life-long communicant of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church.
Mary had a long and accomplished career with Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers in Westchester for nearly 40 years from the early 1940s until her retirement as an office supervisor in the early 1980s. She was a dedicated servant of the mission of the Fathers and Brothers and was valued and cherished for her supervising acumen.
Mary was the matriarch of the family and was surrounded, adored, and loved by her numerous nieces and nephews from the east and west coasts. She was the keeper of the MacDonald family history including the details of her parents, emigration from County Mayo, Ireland and her brother’s experience as a pilot in WW2. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all who loved and knew her. May she find eternal rest and peace with our Lord.
