She was born in Yonkers, NY on June 18, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Sarno) Comizio. Caroline was one of eight children born into a loving Italian family.
Caroline married Lauro (Larry) Cava on July 16, 1960 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers, NY. Her devoted and beloved husband predeceased her in 1977.
Caroline was an Administrator of the Employee Health Benefits Department for the Yonkers Board of Education, where she served as a dedicated employee for over 30 years. She also served as President of the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Union for the Yonkers Board of Education for many years.
Caroline will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving sister, cherished aunt and Godmother, and treasured friend. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her charismatic spirit, terrific sense of humor, kind and brave heart, and unending devotion to her faith and those she loved.
Caroline never hesitated throughout her entire life to give and help others selflessly and passionately in every way.
Caroline’s family is forever grateful for the care and compassion Caroline received from the staff at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose, and in particular, the Deer Park Unit.  Caroline was cared for with great dignity, respect, and love.
Caroline is survived by her sister, Jenny D’Amato and husband Frank, twin sister Anne Wasserman, her brother Dr. Robert Comizio and wife Kathleen, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Assunta and brothers Vito, Carmine, and Joseph.
