Visitation will be at The Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining, NY on Tuesday, August 4th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on August 5th at 11:30 a.m. at the Scarborough Presbyterian Church, Scarborough, NY.

John Patrick Curran, Ph.D.
Passed away on August 1, 2015

Scarborough, NY – John P. Curran, 72, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Ridgefield Crossings Memory Care Facility in Ridgefield, CT following several years of dementia.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Constance (Kuhns) Curran; his daughter, Meredith Rauhut; his son, Sean Curran; two grandchildren, Gavin and Kaelyn Rauhut; his sister, Ann Mullan; and ten nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in the Bronx, NY he was the son of Francis and Ann Curran.  He graduated from All Hallows High School in 1961 and attended Fordham University School of Pharmacy, receiving his pharmacy degree in 1966.  He went on to receive his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Economics from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. In 1970 he accepted a position with Pfizer, Inc. in New York City working in Public Policy Research.  Five years later he went to work for the brokerage firm, G. A. Saxton as a drug analyst.  During his time as a drug analyst on Wall Street, he worked for Wood Gundy, Inc., Dean Witter Reynolds and L.F. Rothschild.  In 1987 he started his own hedge fund, Curran Capital Management, retiring in 2002.
John was a member of The American Ireland Fund, The WineGeese Society, The Knights of St. Patrick, Historic Hudson Valley, and Scenic Hudson.  He was also a member of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, NY and The Moorings Country Club of Naples, in Naples, Fl.
He served on the Board of Directors of the Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY, on the finance committee of St. Theresa Church in Briarcliff, NY, and on the Board of Directors of the Francis and Ann Curran Center for American Catholic Studies at Fordham University.
A firm believer in education, John was the treasurer and investment manager of the family foundation – The John P. and Constance A. Curran Charitable Foundation.
He was inducted into the Legacy Laureate Society of the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 and into the Archbishop Hughes Society of Fordham University in 2007.
John loved to travel, enjoyed the ocean, vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee, NH and spending time with his grandchildren. He played golf, shot trap and skeet and enjoyed going to the movies.
