Daranee Ekmahachai
February 3, 1947 - June 4, 2015
Daranee Ekmahachai of Ossining passed away on June 4, 2015 after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer. Her fortitude, selflessness and grace serve as inspiration. She was 68.

Daranee was born on February 3, 1947 in Bangkok, Thailand to the late Pol. Gen. Prayode and Lamdap (Ngamwaree) Angsusingha.
She worked many years as a Prenatal Nurse at the Ossining Open Door. Helping expectant mothers was her life’s work. She tirelessly devoted herself to each of her patients. Prior to that, she and her husband owned Santa’s, a deli on Main Street, Ossining. Seven days a week for eight years, she spent her days in the back of the house cooking up a storm. Going back to the start, she kicked off her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at Sprain Brook Nursing Home and Phelps Hospital. Of all of her accomplishments, being a mother and grandmother were her crowning achievements.

There were many joys in her life. She loved to getaway to her home away from home, The Tropicana in Atlantic City, where she enjoyed taking her chances with the one-armed bandits. Nothing delighted her more than feeding her grandchildren and having them cuddle in her lap. She loved taking long walks in Senasqua Park and letting her mind wander. And some of her best times were cracking crabs with her family. These are just a few of the many memories that will live on.

She is survived by her husband, Sunya; daughters Sunsaneeya (Ekmahachai) Spotts and Suvida; her son Sunya Jr.; son-in-law Eric Spotts; brothers Charlermrath, Tanit, Kitti; numerous nieces and nephews; and her grandchildren, Charlotte and Everett Spotts.
She was predeceased by her brother Parinya and sister Yupayong.
Visitation will be 2-6pm on Saturday, June 6 at Dorsey Funeral Home: 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining, NY.
Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daranee's memory to the Ossining Open Door - https://www.opendoormedical.org/foundation/donate/
