Joseph Alfred Regotti
1960 - 2015
Joe passed on to the fullness of life in God's love at home with his dear family on Saturday, January 3rd.  Joe was the loving husband of Jean Walsh, his devoted partner for 25 years. Brought together by their shared passion for faith, justice, and peace they met through Witness for Peace where they served in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and the U.S.  Joe joined Maryknoll Lay Missioners (MKLM) in 1997 with Jean and raised their daughters, Hannah and Maria, in Oaxaca, Mexico.  He co-founded a hospital there that still serves the region’s poorest residents.  Joe thrived in that ministry until 2001 when he was diagnosed with cancer and returned to MKLM’s home center in Ossining.  His arduous work on cancer survival inspired both family and friends and afforded him many more years of thriving and loving. Joe served as Director of Mission Services at Maryknoll Lay Missioners until this year.
Joe was the 5th of 6 children born to Alfred and Irene Regotti in Monroeville, PA. He graduated from Notre Dame University in 1982and spent 2 years in Chile immediately afterwards working with the marginalized and economically poor, starting what became a life- long commitment. He graduated with a Master's Degree in Social Work from Fordham University in 2011. His work for a more just world along with his beloved role as dad and grandpa to Brandon are the crowning achievements of his life. He is survived by his wife, daughters and grandson Brandon, and four of his five siblings- Ben, Judy, Alan and Paul. In addition he is survived by 12 nieces and nephews - Daniel, Michael, Thomas, Emily, Katie, Julie, Paul, Donald, Jeanne, Gerard, John and James and their parents, Steve, Stacey, Kevin, Jackie, John and Steph. Joe’s parents and brother, Tom, preceded him in death.
