Gregory S. Whittaker, son of John G. Whittaker, Sr. and the late Clarrisa Harris Whittaker, was born on August 27, 1946. He entered into eternal rest at age 68 on September 27, 2014 at his home.
Gregg received his formal education in the Washington, DC public school system, graduating in 1964 from Eastern High School. He furthered his education, graduating from Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Gregg served in the United States Air Force from 1965 until he was honorably discharged in 1969. He and the love of his life, Olivia, were together for 27 years and made their home in Ossining, NY.
Gregg was a counselor and social worker before working for the New York State Department of Labor for over 21 years until his retirement in September 2013 as a Lead Veteran Employment Representative. Gregg had a love for Jazz. He was a loyal New York Giants fan. He enjoyed engaging in current news discussions, and was an enthusiastic political debater. Gregg also had a passion for long distance running, finishing over 30 marathons, including the Marine Corps Marathon, the Yonkers Marathon, the New York City Marathon and the Philadelphia Marathon.
Gregg was predeceased by his brother, John G. Whittaker, Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memory his father, John G. Whittaker, Sr.; his stepmother, Cecelia; the love of his life Olivia Marie Wilson; two stepbrothers, Jeffrey and Michael (Crystal) Whittaker; one stepsister, Stephanie Whittaker; one niece Cecelia Whittaker; four nephews, Roger, Christopher, Garrett and Reginald Whittaker; one grandniece, Taylor Whittaker; his ‘spiritual brother’ and extended family  Russell and Arthretta Wilson, Cameron Wilson (Andria), Adrian Wilson; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
